Pineau Blanc finalist in Paris General Contest 2015, Silver Medal at the Challenge for the best French Wine for the USA and 5 Stars at the Revue des Vins de France.
Some 300 years ago, a wine grower inadvertently poured grape juice into a barrel still containing cognac. Only years later, he discovered the blend had matured into a delicious wine. The Pineau des Charentes was born.
It became an instant success, both as an aperitif wine and a dessert wine. It is now also widely regarded as an excellent accompaniment to foie gras and cheese. It is as its best when served well chilled.
The Pineau des Charentes produced at the Chateau de Plassac is blended from the estate’s own Ugni Blanc and Colombard grapes. These grapes give to the Pineau of Plassac a floral aroma, refined and delicate taste and elegant colour.
